The music flows threw me like lightning; it yearns to be grounded, searching for an escape. It finds that escape with every pound of my foot against the pavement. Boom and the music finds the hot concrete much to its liking. It moves with me as I make my way down the tree covered road. The lightning music finds its way back into me as my other foot hits. Boom, electric shivers propel me forward faster. Goose bumps erupt over every inch of my body as the cool winds kiss my skin. Running does something to me, I cannot explain it fully but it calls to me and I answer with everything I have. I like to cradle the iPod in my hand. The feeling of cool metal against my skin keeps me aware of my surroundings, how heavy it is, where the cord is swinging around my body.  The music is not any type, all are welcome on my run. My breathing easy and free after the first mile, the jell-o feeling in my legs wears out at around the same time. Nothing else matters in the world accept for the run.  Some of the music I have stolen from my sisters, mother and father. They run with me in spirit as animals, I find it easier to accept that version then their human form running with me. My Mother is a penguin on ice, sliding along on her feathered belly moving her flippers back and forth propelling her along to guide me, I smile at the thought of it. Boom and the song changes it is one I have stolen and grew to enjoy not because the song is particularly good but because it is my younger sister's favorite. She is the tiger leaping out of the Indian brush, her strips stretch and contract with the pull of her coat against her muscled body. Her tail whips back and forth helping her to dodge puddles and stumps.  Just as quickly as she arrived she is off as my father's song beats in my ears. Rhino is his chosen animal, like him strong and stubborn. His run is more of a jog as his head is held high to show off his horns, he makes the ground quake with his footsteps no animal dares mess with him. He stops with a gust of wind blowing the African plain dust about, when my other sister emerges from the American wilderness. Her wolf howls as she leaps over a downed tree. Her fangs glisten with a coating of saliva as her tongue lops out one side. Like my other sister she dodges downed trees and puddles they are the same in some ways. She is joined by the Tiger as a song I stole from both of them comes on and we three run together. They criss cross paths once and awhile glancing back to look at me telling me that they are with me till I can run no more. This is the music I have stolen, this is the family that stole me, and together we steal the path from others. Boom and the lightning is sent back to the ground, with a smile I race my family to the end of time.
Went running and decided to write down what I was thinking when I was. This is for my family who mean more then anything to me. Hope they like it as much as I do.

OMG I got shivers, beautiful writing Robyn!
so imaginative and descriptive.:boogie:
I love the way you portrayed the animal spirits, and the incorperation of the lightning.
I would gladly run with you.
